98Forward Completes 25 Acts of Kindness in Detroit to Celebrate 25th Anniversary

Award-winning agency gives back to community in honor of 25 years of service

DETROIT, MI – 98Forward, Michigan’s largest Black-owned women-led PR agency, commemorated 25 years servicing clients in Detroit by giving back to the community with 25 acts of kindness. From bellringing for the Salvation Army to packing meals for senior citizens, 98Forward has provided different organizations around Detroit with a gift that keeps on giving.

“As a legacy agency that has been in business for 25 years, we wanted to do more than celebrate this accomplishment with a party,” said Marilyn Horn, President and CFO of 98Forward. “Our community is at the forefront of what we do. Our way of thanking Detroit is by giving back to various organizations and causes that fuel the community. We would not be where we are today if not for Detroit.”

Some of the random acts of kindness 98Forward completed include:

  • Delivering boxes of food to seniors around Detroit for Focus: HOPE’s Food for Seniors Program.
  • Hosted a clothing donation drive in partnership with The Goodwill of Greater Detroit.
  • Adopted a family for Christmas for the Detroit Missionaries Adopt-A-Family Program.
  • Harvested vegetables at Keep Growing Detroit Farms.
  • Taught students about story telling at Mann Learning School.
  • Donated book bags and coats to The Children’s Center of Wayne County.
  • Packed holiday food boxes at Forgotten Harvest.
  • Co-sponsor DPSCD Alumni Hall of Fame Weekend.
  • Fed homeless veterans at Soldiers’ Angels.
  • Bellringing for the Salvation Army.
  • Donated children’s coats to Eastside Community Network.

“To have the space and opportunity to do something so meaningful is truly an honor and key differentiator of our agency,” shares Antonice Strickland Vice President of Public Relations and Business Development for 98Forward. “Our agency’s philosophy is to not simply work from our office in Detroit, but to be deeply ingrained in the city and communities we serve, and it has truly been a pleasure to practice what we’ve preached over the last 25 years.”

98Forward, formally known as Berg Muirhead & Associates, was founded in 1998 by Georgella Muirhead and Bob Berg. Both Muirhead and Berg were committed to moving the city and region forward by partnering with businesses and organizations who share that goal. Both founders also wanted to create a diverse firm that reflected the communities it served.

The agency has executed communications campaigns tailored to meet the needs of more than 200 clients from a diverse group of industries. In 2016, Muirhead and Berg passed the torch onto Marilyn Horn, 98Forward’s current owner, president and CFO, and her former business partner. Muirhead has remained engaged with the agency.

“Any business that has been running for 25 years is already achieving something. For a minority business that is led by women, it is an incredible accomplishment,” said Muirhead, CEO, and co-founder of 98Forward. “When Bob and I started the agency, our main goal was to pay the agency’s bills. Now, after 25 years of going above and beyond for our clients and community, we can do more than just pay the bills – we can give back to our community in a meaningful way.”

98Forward continues its legacy of elevating client voices while remaining deeply engrained in the community. 98Forward plans to continue having a major presence on the communications scene for years to come.
